    STAR Diesel, a family matter
    40 years in 10 chapters
    In the early 1970s, two families from Emilia Romagna cross their paths, establishing STAR Diesel.
    1970-1980
    The beginning
    This story starts at Silva Bernardoni and Franco Salomoni’s repair workshop in Via Zanardi, Bologna. The best part of the story is yet to come, but something is about to change soon.
    1981
    The turning point is around the corner
    Franco starts selling diesel injection spare parts, while Silva creates the first catalogues using carbon paper. That same year, Fabiana Bombardi and Sandro Cervellati join the company. Then, the magic happens. Franco has an idea that transforms the workshop into a commercial business. Everything changes.
    1980-1985
    Try, dare, and expect the unexpected
    In these years, workshops stock spare parts. It’s not unusual to see shelves packed until no room is left. Franco is quite familiar with this situation and comes up with another brilliant idea: a disposable repair kit. This kit is bound to revolutionise the market, opening new horizons.
    1985-1990
    A lucky encounter in Argentina
    The repair kits give the boost for growing further, even on holiday. In the mid-1980s, Silva and Franco travel to Argentina, where they meet their first international client. This experience makes Silva, Franco, Fabiana and Sandro understand that international markets are essential for their growth. It’s time to conquer the world.
    1990-1995
    Stepping into the world of trade fairs
    In the mid-1990s, it’s time for the first international event: Automechanika Frankfurt, the industry’s most important trade fair. The event confirms that the company is on the right track. Our stands keep growing, just like our company, becoming a meeting point for new and old partners. Every time, major industry players stop by, even just to say hello.
    1995
    A new star is born
    In 1995, we keep expanding in international markets and create our star logo you all know today. Our experience is now reflected in our new logo and products.
    STAR Diesel is now a reality.
    2012
    A new super comprehensive catalogue
    Our wide offering needs three catalogues, but as our distributors suggest, it would be better to have just one. And so we created one in 2012. Bingo! A fantastic idea that brings new clients.
    2000-2013
    The team gets bigger
    Doing things well needs time, and Silva, Fabiana, Franco and Sandro know it. Two valuable members join the team: Nico in 1992 and Laura in 2000. Both learn the ropes. In 2013, Nico is joined by his wife Marzia Maccari. They’re the seeds of the future.
    2014
    The super comprehensive catalogue is online
    Technology is evolving fast, and we’re part of the process. 2014 is a year of big changes. Our new STAR Diesel website is finally online, with a digital catalogue containing over 10.000 items, including the repair kit, common rail systems, injection pumps, and conventional spare parts.
    2017
    A major turning point
    2017 is the year of the “big leap”. It’s time for the first generation to pass the helm to the new one. Nico, Marzia and Laura start a season of changes, giving life to the new STAR Diesel.
    2021
    A major achievement
    In 2021, we celebrate 40 years in the business. Many things have changed since we started in the old workshop in via Zanardi. But one thing will always remain the same: the meaning of family that keeps us united.
